Yuna Kim performed at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships gala presentation in London, Ontario, Sunday

After a two-year break, South Korean figure skater Kim Yu-na returned to the rink over the weekend, claiming the women’s title at the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships in Canada. Her win lit up the blogosphere in South Korea, with many praising “Queen Yuna,” as she is known.

Many commenters heaped praise on Ms. Kim for her performance, while others were impressed by the singing of the Korean national anthem by a Canadian chorus at the medal ceremony.

Selected tweets, in translation (originals below):

Fashion designer Lee Sang-bong @lsbparis: The Canadian chorus’s singing of the national anthem was very touching. Yuna winning a battle with herself and earning two additional tickets for her juniors (at the next winter Olympics) will be remembered forever. Kim Yuna is more touching than the movie Les Miserables.

@MelodyMonthly: She is a combination of talent, practice and mental strength. Among that her mentality is the best.

@pognie: I cannot become an atheist. I see goodness from Yuna.

@nichtmehrmb: 2013 Figure Skating World Championship…first place goes to Kim Yuna and second place is for the Canadian Chorus.

@tumipiacimolto: I just saw the free figure skating  program. I am surely proud of Kim Yuna but I am more surprised and my heart is full of emotions from the fact that Canadian chorus sang the Korean national anthem.

@bestyangak: The Canadian chorus singing the national anthem was really touching. I heard they practiced it for two months.

@loliparty: Now thinking about the Canadian chorus singing the national anthem…did they already choose the winner and practice for two months?

@ActualEntities: The Korean government should really be shamed. Kim Yuna is the best of the best, but there is no single ice rink solely for figure skating. It’s unbelievable
